Firefighter/Paramedic

Firefighter/Paramedic, Pay Range $6,040 to $7,550 per month

(Not including education/longevity incentive pay)

South Lane County Fire & Rescue is seeking candidates for two immediate openings. The District will be filling positions based on District Civil Service Commission rules.

SLCFR is situated in the southern part of the Willamette Valley. The Fire District operates four fire stations which encompasses the Cities of Cottage Grove and Creswell, serving approximately 33,000 residents within 130 square miles. The Fire District also provides ALS transporting medic service to an area of 800 square miles.

General Positions Summary:

Firefighter/Paramedics - perform emergency medical procedures along with various fire suppression, prevention, and apparatus operation techniques and activities. District Firefighter/Paramedics routinely work a 48/96-hour shift rotation including assignment to a transporting ALS Medic unit. Firefighter/Paramedics may be assigned to a schedule consisting of 40 and 42 hours per week. This position maintains all District equipment and apparatus through regular inspection programs and includes minor repairs. District personnel are expected to participate in ongoing training and continuing education programs. Personnel under this category are represented by Lane Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 851.

Minimum qualifications include:

Firefighter/Paramedics

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Possess a valid, insurable Oregon driver’s license.
• Possess an Oregon Paramedic certification at time of hire or by the end of the 12-month probationary period.
• Possess NFPA Firefighter 1.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates degree or higher in Fire Science, EMS or related field.
• NFPA Driver/Pumper Operator.
• Wildland Firefighter type II.

COOPERATIVE PROCUREMENT

Pursuant to Oregon Revised Statutes 279A.220, notice is hereby given that the South Lane County Fire & Rescue District intends to enter into a contract with Hughes Fire Equipment. for the purchase of two (2) Boise Mobile Equipment Type 3 Summit ISO rated engines. The contract (FS12-23) is based on the terms of interstate cooperative procurement administered by H-GAC, in accordance with ORS 279A.220.  The purpose of this notice is to provide information to the public and invite interested persons an opportunity to submit written comment.

Written comments and protests must be delivered to South Lane County Fire & Rescue District at the address below no later than 5 p.m. on December 18, 2024.  Written protests received after this deadline will not be considered. Submittals should be addressed to Fire Chief John Wooten, South Lane County Fire & Rescue, 233 E. Harrison Avenue, Cottage Grove, OR 97424, and shall provide a detailed factual and legal basis for the comment/complaint and the relief requested. Protests will be handled pursuant to ORS 279A.225.

Pursuant to Oregon Revised Statutes 279A.220, notice is hereby given that the South Lane County Fire & Rescue District intends to enter into a contract with Hughes Fire Equipment in the amount of $316,204.16 for the purchase of one (1) Medic Specialty Vehicles, INC Ford F450 XLT 4x4 Medix MVS-11-170 Type 1 ambulance. The contract (AM10-23) is based on the terms of an interstate cooperative procurement administered by HGAC, in accordance with ORS 279A.220.  The purpose of this notice is to provide information to the public and invite interested persons an opportunity to submit written comment.
