South Lane County Fire & Rescue is seeking candidates for an upcoming opening due to retirement. The District will be filling this position based on the Districts Civil Service Commission rules.
SLCFR is situated in the Southern part of the Willamette Valley. The Fire District operates four fire stations which encompasses the Cities of Cottage Grove and Creswell, serving approximately 33,000 residents within 130 square miles. The Fire District also provides ALS transporting medic service to an area of 800 square miles.

Minimum qualifications include:
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Possess a valid, insurable Oregon driver’s license.
• A minimum of 10 years, with 3 years as a company officer, of progressive career experience in a fire service field.
• Bachelor Degree in applicable field (Fire, EMS, Business or related field) or a satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the required knowledge, skill and ability to perform the above described duties as determined by the District.
• NFPA Fire Officer II.
• NFPA Firefighter II.
• NFPA Haz Mat Operations
• NFPA Instructor I.
• NWCG Engine Boss/Crew Boss
• Oregon EMT (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
• NIMS – ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or higher in applicable field (Fire, EMS, Business or related field).
• 3 years serving as a Chief Officer in a career or combination fire agency
• NFPA Fire Officer III or IV
• NFPA Haz Mat Incident Commander
• Oregon Paramedic.
• NWCG TFLD/STL
