SLCF&R BOARD SUPPORTS MEASURE 20-213
At their monthly Board of Directors meeting, the South Lane County Fire & Rescue District made a unanimous vote in favor of Lane County Measure 20-213. After several minutes of discussion and comments from all of the Board members present, as well as Fire Chief Dean Creech, the Board decided that the levy is a necessary step in providing safety to Lane County residents.
If voters approve measure 20-213 in the May 21st election, the measure will fund a minimum of 255 additional jail beds to prevent violent offenders from being released prior to trial and will provide additional counseling, treatment and detention for youth offenders.
Long-time Board Member Jerry Settlemeyer said that he supports the measure because it falls in-line with the mission statement of South Lane County Fire & Rescue District, which is “Making a positive difference in the community through service to others.”
