Local groups raises money for Knox Box Program

07/01/2013

South Lane County Fire and Rescue was recently presented with $2014 from the members of Trinity Women in Missions of the Trininty Lutheran Church & $900 from the Cottage Grove Community Foundation. The money raised will be used to help fund South Lane County Fire and Rescues new knox box loaner program. This program allows residents the ability to have a temporary key box placed over the door of their residence that allows fire district personnel access to their home in an emergency. This will allow paramedics to gain access to the occupants faster without causing damage to their home. The program is intended for community members with disabilities or medical conditions that hinder them from unlocking their doors in emergency situations. The church raised $1414 from a fundraising garage sale and $600 was donated by the local Thrivent Financial for Lutherans
Organization.
