Fatal Structure Fire

South Lane County Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire at 81785 Sears RD. Creswell at 7:40 PM this evening. Initial dispatch information stated that the home was occupied and there was possibly someone trapped inside. First arriving crews arrived to find the home fully involved with fire. Upon arrival crews determined that the home was occupied by four people and they were all home at the onset of the fire. Crews quickly determined only three of the occupants had been accounted for. The three occupants who escaped the fire were transported to Cottage Grove Community Hospital for evaluation. After extinguishing the fire, crews found the remains of the fourth occupant of the home. The fire is being investigated by the Oregon State Fire Marshalls Office to determine the cause of the fire. The fire took close to two hours to bring under control.
South Lane County Personnel responded with seven Fire /EMS apparatus and twenty personnel. South Lane County Fire and Rescue was assisted by the Goshen Fire District, Oregon State Fire Marshalls Office, and the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
