Effective at 1100 AM on August 25, 2016, and in conjunction an Oregon Department of Forestry issued closedown order; invoking Industrial Fire Precaution Order (IFPL) Level 3, in accordance with ORS 477.625, ORS 477.670, and OAR 629-043-0070. This order states that no activities are permitted at any time on all lands protected by the Western Lane and East Cascade Districts of ODF, and all forestland within one-eighth mile thereof.
Due to the current fire weather forecasts, and to bring the entire district into the same precaution level, as Fire Chief I am issuing the following emergency order:
Effective at 1100 AM on August 25, 2016, in accordance with ORS 478.960, I hereby order the following restrictions for all lands protected by South Lane County Fire and Rescue:
III. Partial Shutdown
The following are prohibited except as indicated:
Cable yarding - except that gravity operated logging systems employing non-motorized carriages may operate between 8 P.M. and 1 P.M. when all blocks and moving lines are suspended 10 feet above the ground except the line between the carriage and the chokers.
Power saws - except power saws may be used at loading sites and on tractor/skidder operations between the hours of 8 P.M. and 1 P.M.
Mowing or weed eating within the city limits of Cottage Grove and Creswell, after 10am and prior to 8pm until further notice.
Camp, warming, or ceremonial type fires outside of fire rings, and with a hose or fire extinguisher in place at the site, within the City limits of Cottage Grove and Creswell.
In addition, the following are permitted to operate between the hours of 8 P.M. and 1 P.M.:
Tractor/skidder, feller-buncher, forwarder, or shovel logging operations where tractors, skidders or other equipment with a blade capable of constructing fireline are immediately available to quickly reach and effectively attack a fire start;
Mechanized loading or hauling of any product or material;
Welding or cutting of metal;
Any other spark emitting operation not specifically mentioned.
These restrictions will continue until such time as the current high temperatures and low humidity weather conditions permit the lifting of this emergency order.
